Out of My Element - Jillian

In the fantasy steampunk city of Cog, science has become akin to a lost art and advanced technology is now considered a sign of wealth and power.  In this city reside a number of elementals, creatures whose bodies are comprised of of liquid, heat, soil, or gas, a handful of whom hold high administrative positions for services rendered during the "Elemental Wars."

The daughter of  nobleman decides to go exploring the abandoned sector of the city out of boredom and stumbles across a rebellion in the works.  Although rather inclined to turn the lot of them in at first, her encounter with them awakes an elemental heritage she never even knew she had.  To make matters worse the rebels seem to be the only ones she can turn to for training.  And this is just the first day.  (first page)

Jillian

Jillian, or "Jill," is the main character of the series and a recently awakened air elemental.  Spunky to a fault, she is never afraid to speak her mind even if perhaps discretion would better serve her.  Also curious by nature although once again said curiosity has gotten her into trouble.
