I'm not dead yet

I'm feelin' better!  Well for the most part anyway.

A few things:
1. Yes, I am indeed alive.  Whatever the hell laid me out with coughing fits for most of the month has finally passed with no permanent effects.  I think.

2.  No it was not ebola.  People keep asking that and the question's getting a bit worn thin.

3.  The next person to even coughs near me: a pox on ye.  A pox on ye and ye entire family.  And yes, I realize there is a certain irony in wishing a pox on a sick person.

Now as for the this blog, I'm afraid to say that updates are going to continue to be sparse for a couple weeks.  With this illness I've not only fallen behind on this blog but on school work as well, and my focus right now is catching up on my classes.  Even though the idea of going an entire month without updating galls me beyond belief, the fact of the matter is that life has thrown a wrench into my plans for the site.

A double pox upon anyone who coughs near me again.  Seriously, I will INVENT new cuss words if I get sick again.

Of course there is an alternative.  I have a number of mini-updates ready that I could post to fill the space until I can get regular updates up and going again.  These "minis" would have less material than conventional updates (only 1 to 3 images) and likely wouldn't have a full review.  In short it would be a few weeks of filler, but it'd still be something I could post rather than leave the blog totally inactive until February.

Thanks for sticking with this niche of a blog and belated happy new year.

Christmas news

Heyo all.

So sadly I have to announce that there will be no updates for either Dec 26th or Jan 2nd due to spending the holidays with family and my own woeful lack of buffer updates.  *le sigh*  I miss my buffer.  It was most...buffery.

Regular updates will resume Jan 9th along with a general site redesign, including a links hub and a backdrop that doesn't look like the background of an autumn season hallmark card.

Until then I wish you all well and will see you in 2015!

Magick Chicks - Tiffany

Tiffany?  Who's Tiffany?  Clearly that is Artemis Academy's MASKED AVENGER!  Or at least that's what Tiffany wants us to think/thinks we think.  She is also the resident wanabe monster hunter of Magick Chicks, which makes it ironic that she's training a witch and is best friends with a vampire.  To say she's not the most effective monster hunter in the world would be an understatement.

Grrl Power - Sydney

Okay, so how many comics can you name that are based around a mostly female superhero group?  I myself can only name three (Birds of Prey, The Fearless Defenders, and Femforce) and that frankly is an appallingly low number for a genre packed to the gills with super team ups, many of them all guy.  Luckily the nature webcomics provides a bit more freedom in story concepts, which has yielded this rather nice little gem.

As the name implies, Grrl Power is a comic based primarily around a group of super heroines and Archon, the government overseen super hero agency they all work for.  Much of the comic centers around the things that you'd expect a group of super heroines to do.  You know, going on dates, discussing diets, saving the world, dismantling tanks, that sort of thing.  Pretty light hearted for the most part, but deffinately a read for any fan of super heroes.  (first comic)

Sydney

Sydney, aka "Halo," is the co-owner of a small comic book shop and the latest addition to Archon.  By far the nerdiest (and shortest) of the superheroines of Grrl Power, Sydney is constantly dropping references to nerd culture and is the most genre savvy of the group.  Her powers are derived from a series of seven orbs that orbit around her head, each with a unique ability, and can be activated when she grabs hold of one.  However this means she's limited to using two abilities at the most at any given time.

Heather

Heather is a recurring rival/antagonist of both Ash and Emily as well as a skilled street racer.  She can be rather single minded at times and will give it her all to "win" at whatever challenge she applies herself to.  This also means that she doesn't take loss and/or humiliation lightly and can hold a grudge with the best of them.
