Spinnerett - Sahira

Heyo!  So I was planning on doing this entree later this month, but this week's been a long one and I needed a short post.  So without further ado, let's introduce this weeks webcomic gal:

Sahira
Sahira is Heather's roommate and snarky best friend.  She's studying to become a fashion designer and is the one responsible for making and repairing all of Heather/Spinnerett's costumes.  Later on it's discovered that she has the power to temporarily copy a superhero/villain's powers through contact with their DNA, although she has expressed a keen disinterest in super heroing herself.  She does find having six arms does help with the household chores though.

Everblue - Luna

Everblue the webcomic takes place in a world of seemingly endless ocean, where human civilization is limited to numerous floating cities that are themselves confined to a long belt of ocean that stretches from the north to south polls.  Beyond this belt is the titular Everblue, an unexplored expanse from which no explorer has ever returned.

However, when a young shipwright meets a happy go lucky drifter after his boat crashes into the docks (through no fault of his (mostly)), events are set into motion that will force the shipwright from her home and the two of them on an adventure to explore the Everblue.  However much can happen in an endless ocean and it is unknown if that which awaits them is scarier than that which already pursues them.  (first comic)

Luna
Before she met Ten, aka happy go lucky drifter, Luna was just an ordinary shipwright.  Okay that's not entirely true as she's also has a hobby of exploring the long untouched submerged sections of the city contrary to religious taboo and she's constructed a boat built around lost technology.  But other than that, not so inordinate.

One of the things that makes this series so great for foot lovers is that Luna is perpetually either wearing sandals or just plain going barefoot.  And it's not uncommon for the artist to show her going from a state of the former to the latter.

And then there was...a flashback!  As it turns out sandals and bare feet have pretty much been Luna's default choice since as long as she remembers.

Spinnerette - Heather

No, I haven't given up finding webcomic feet to review alternative rock bands.  Well, not yet anyway.  Instead, let me tell you about a webcomic known as Spinnerette.  At its most basic one can describe Spinnerette as being a American style super hero comic drawn in the style of a Japanese manga that draws upon tropes and visual cues from both.

The origin story of the heroine even draws intentional comparison to that of Spiderman's: a nerdy young student accidently gets infused with spider DNA and gains the abilities of a spider.  Donning the mask of a super hero she then goes forth to fight crime and keep the streets of Columbus, Ohio safe.  Hey, not every hero gets to be based out of New York, okay? (first comic)

Heather
Our intrepid heroine.  Super powers: spider abilities, meaning four extra limbs, super strength (and a nice lady six pack as a bonus), wall climbing, super regeneration, resistance to poisons, and the ability to shoot spider silk out of her butt a gland at the base of her spine.

Despite being a teeny bit air headed at times, Heather is actually quite intelligent, being a grad student studding genetics.  Being the new kid on the block when it comes to super heroing, Heather often uses her intellect in combat to even the playing field against opponents who are much stronger or more experienced than she is.

There's a long story behind this.  We'll get into it in a future post.

But believe it or not these two are actually on quite friendly terms.

Man, everyone just hands up on bottom lefty.
During one of the story arcs, Heather gets hit by a burst of energy similar to the ray that infused her with spider DNA in the first place.  Unfortunately this causes her powers to go out of control and only the "super villain" Dr. Universe can save her life in time.

Perhaps not such a bad guy that Dr. Universe.

6 Gun Mage - Kyliee

6 Gun Mage is one those webcomics that blends the genres of western and fantasy but does it in a rather straightforward way.  What you need to know is in the title really; there are mages and they all uses guns instead of wands.

To elaborate, in the world 6 Gun Mage magic is focused through guns (so far only pistols), allowing trained "gun mages" to manipulate their bullets in ways that would normally defy the laws of physics.  Splitting bullets into two, guiding it like it's an RC pinball from hell, exploding holes in walls, that sort of thing.  There is catch however: gun mages are all limited to single shot weapons.  To fire more than one magic bullet after a few seconds would leave them drained.  To fire six would leave them dead.

Or at least, that's how it's suppose to work.  But when a rookie gun mage proves herself capable of wielding a repeater without ill effect, the council of mages takes a special interest.  And a hit out on her.  Now she's on run, uncertain of even why she's being hunted in the first place.  (first comic)

Kyliee
Renegade and general spunky gal bounty hunter, Kyliee is the only known gunmage to use a six shooter.  One of her greatest strengths is ability to think on the fly and react quickly to a crisis.  However her tenancy to rush into a situation head first has landed her in uncomfortable positions more than once.  For example...
